The Supreme Court has dismissed and refused the introduction of fresh evidence by counsel to Atiku Abubakar in his suit challenging President Bola Tinubu's election victory.

The court ruled that Atiku failed to convince the Supreme Court why he waited until the PEPT concluded the appellant’s suit.

Delivering the judgment on Thursday, Justice John Okoro berated Atiku’s lawyers for 'tardiness' and non-diligence in obtaining the fresh evidence from Chicago State University.

Consequently, Justice Okoro held that the Supreme Court has no jurisdiction to accept fresh evidence.

Atiku had sought to tender academic records of Tinubu, which were handed over to him by the Chicago State University (CSU) on 2 October.

The former Vice President wanted to use the documents to show that Tinubu forged his academic credentials.

He had informed the court that the evidence was crucial to his appeal.
