Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, says the crisis involving himself and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, will be resolved and normalcy will return.

The governor made this known at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital following a visit by a military delegation led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa on Wednesday.

“There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem if there is any problem, but I don’t think there is anything, whatever it is, we will definitely resolve the issue," he said.

Recall that on Monday following a fire incident at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, Speaker of the Assembly, Martin Amaewhule and 22 other lawmakers began impeachment proceedings against the governor.

The incident which led to a crisis in some parts of the oil-rich state, saw the emergence of a factional Assembly led by the leader of the house, Edison Ehie, and some other lawmakers believed to be loyal to the governor.

On Tuesday, in a bid to resolve the crisis, President Bola Tinubu met with Governor Fubara and former governor, Nyesom Wike at a closed session of the Nigeria Police Council at the Presidential Villa Abuja.

Meanwhile, the former governor now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, likened the political conflict in Rivers State to a family dispute that would be resolved.
