The senior pastor of Dunamis Gospel International Gospel Centre, Abuja, Pastor Paul Enenche has finally spoken up about the death of “Ekwueme” singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, titled “What I know about the passing of Mrs. Osinachi Nwachukwu,” Pastor Enenche said he was unaware of any case of domestic violence until word began circulating after her death.

The pastor narrated that he was only approached by the late singer and her husband for prayers and support following chest pain and respiratory problems.

“Over two and half months ago, she came to see me with her husband with complaints of chest pains, and respiratory stress. I prayed for her and prayed again. And when the symptoms did not abate, I counseled that they should go to the hospital.

“She was hospitalised. The point came when she reported progress that she needed no oxygen anymore and we were excited. That was the point it was before we went to Cameroon for a crusade, it was on the second night (of the crusade) that I got to know of her passing.”

The Pastor denied ever knowing that the late singer was experiencing domestic violence in her marriage.

He said, “if domestic violence had led to or coincided with the symptoms she had brought to my attention two and a half months ago, there is no way I would have known.

“If there was an existing case of domestic violence I did not know. The things we are hearing after her passing are very very strange to me.”

Osinachi Did Not Want Me Informed About Her Marital Challenges

Pastor Paul in the video said an inquiry showed that some family members and associates of the late singer knew about her abuse but were persuaded not to speak to him about it.

He said, “I began to ask questions, first I asked the twin sister, were you aware that your sister passed through all these things? she said yes, she knew some of them.

“I asked her, I said if you knew, why didn’t you let us know and the twin sister said, she always begged her ‘please don’t let the church know, don’t tell the Pastor.”

Don't Stay in Abusive Marriages

Pastor Enenche was criticised, following the death of Osinachi Nwachukwu.

This is because he heads the church attended by the late singer and her family.

The late singer was also a key figure among the church’s music ministers.

But Pastor Eneche said in his latest video, that the church is against any form of domestic violence.

“Everyone who knows us knows that we have zero tolerance for domestic abuse and wife battering. There is a policy and rule we have that it is better to be alive without marriage than to die because of marriage,” he pointed out.
