Negotiations will continue Wednesday after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) rejected the Nigerian government’s N54,000 minimum wage proposal on Tuesday.
Both unions have been pushing for a 2,000 percent increase in the national base pay from N30,000 to N615,000, citing rising inflation in the country.
At the start of talks on Tuesday, the government representatives proposed a 60 percent increase to N48,000 before moving the limit to N54,000.
Nigeria Info has just learned that the organized rejected both offers, insisting on a much higher figure.
