Messi has agreed to a deal until 2026
After months of speculation over his future, Barcelona and Argentina captain Lionel Messi will be staying at Barcelona.
The 34-year-old who is a free agent after his reported £123m a season contract expired on 30 June, has agreed to a deal until 2026 which includes reducing his wages to half of his previous salary.
The deal, however, is dependent on the departure of players which will help Barca fund the Argentina's wages.
Messi helped Argentina win the Copa America on Sunday defeating rivals Brazil 1-0 at the Maracana.
He is Barcelona's record scorer with 672 goals and has won 10 La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, seven Copa del Reys as well as claiming the Ballon d'Or on a record six occasions.
