The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has announced the arrest of a teacher caught on video physically abusing a three-year-old boy.
In a statement shared on Wednesday, the agency thanked members of the public who raised awareness about the distressing incident.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest,” the DSVA stated via its official X account.
The agency stressed the importance of schools providing safe and nurturing environments for children. “Institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care,” the statement added.
The DSVA reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to child safety, emphasizing its zero-tolerance approach to abuse. The agency pledged to enforce strict regulations, hold offenders accountable, and collaborate with stakeholders to prevent abuse in any form.
