The Kano State government has officially banned the operation of rickshaws (keke) after 10 pm.
The decision is contained in a statement issued Monday by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba.
The ban takes effect on Thursday.
Mr. Garba said the decision was reached at the end of a state security meeting.
It is meant to help in ensuring the security of lives and property in the state, he pointed out.
The Commissioner urged keke operators to comply with the new rule and stop operating at the stipulated time.
