The FCT Minister of State, Ramatu Aliyu has approved free education for all vulnerable residents, sportsmen, and sportswomen through the Educational Network Against Covid-19 platform.

The administration, through the FCT Department for Mass Education also approved the usage of all their centers across the six area councils for the training of sportsmen and women

The Executive Director of the Educational Network Against Covid-19, Ben Onwudinjo stated this during the opening of an FCT youth empowerment project named Poverty Fighters Club.

Onwudinjo noted that the initiative was aimed at ensuring that families affected by the Covid-19-induced economic downturn return to school.

Another goal is the provision of opportunities for sportsmen and women to be educated.

The Director of Poverty Fighters Club, Suleiman Zakari said the initiative was borne out of the need to eradicate poverty, drug abuse, crime, and unemployment among young people using sports and business.
