52 Senators voted to give Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and National Assembly power to decide where electronic transmission of results can hold

The Senate has approved the conditional transfer of election results as part of amendments to the Electoral Act amendment bill.

 

The Upper Chamber approved that INEC may consider the electronic transfer of election results provided the National network coverage is adjudged adequate and secure by NCC and approved by NASS.

 

52 Senators voted to give Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and National Assembly power to decide where electronic transmission of results can hold, while 28 Senators voted in support of the original amendment requiring INEC to transmit results by electronic means where practicable. 

 

28 senators were absent during the vote.
