An Ikeja High Court has granted bail to former Central Bank (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele.

Justice Rahman Oshodi presided over the bail hearing, approving bail in the amount of N50 million, with two sureties required to match the sum.

Furthermore, the court stipulated that the sureties must be employed and able to provide evidence of three years' tax payments to the Lagos State Government.

Justice Oshodi emphasized the necessity for proper identification of the sureties and their registration in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

The judge expressed satisfaction with the bail conditions previously set for Emefiele's co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil, by Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat of the Lagos High Court, who is facing a separate charge.

Additionally, the court mandated that the bail documents be transferred to the special offences court and registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

Recall that the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on April 8 brought charges against Emefiele before the court, related to alleged abuse of office and financial irregularities.
