Buhari Visits Released Train Abductees

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the 23 freed passengers of the 28 March 2022 Kaduna train attack.

The president was in Kaduna for the inauguration of the Cadets of 69 Regular Course (Army, Navy, and Air Force) of the Nigeria Defence Academy and made an impromptu visit to the hospital to see the victims.

He thanked the military for their bravery in ensuring the release of the hostages from terrorists.

President Buhari was accompanied to the hospital by the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, led by Maj. Gen. Usman Abdulkadir (rtd).

The release of the last of the kidnapped victims of the March train attack was announced Wednesday by the Secretary to the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, Usman Yusuf.

He said they were released on the same day without giving further details.

“I am pleased to announce to the nation and the world that at 1600Hrs. (4:00pm) today, Wednesday 5-10-2022, the seven-man Presidential Committee assembled by the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General L E O Irabor, secured the release and took custody of all the 23 remaining passengers held hostage by Boko Haram Terrorists following the attack on the Abuja to Kaduna train on 28-3-2022,” a statement from Professor Yusuf read.
