Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has once again brought a petition before the senate alleging sexual harassment by the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio.
The petition, unlike the previous one, is now signed by her constituents.
During Thursday's plenary, the senator was asked whether the matter was already before a court of law. She confirmed that it was not. She was thereafter directed to formally submit the petition for further processing which was then referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics headed by Senator Neda Imasuen.
The committee has been given a four-week period to probe the matter and report back to the Senate. This marks the second time Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan has raised this serious allegation in the Senate. A previous petition she submitted was dismissed just the day before due to procedural irregularities.
