We’re Enforcing NURTW Suspension - Lagos Govt

The Lagos State government has stated that it is enforcing the suspension placed on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across the state.

Gbenga Omotoso, the commissioner for information and strategy, said this in a chat with Wemimo Adewuni on Morning Crossfire.

Adewuni had brought to the commissioner’s attention, reports by callers, that the NURTW is still collecting levies at parks and garages.

But Omotosho said the Commissioner of Police had assured him that there was nothing like that happening, adding that the tickets being issued by those at the parks are not NURTW tickets.

“That you find people at the motor parks issuing tickets, doesn’t mean that NURTW activities are not suspended,” he said.

Omotosho also clarified that the union was suspended and not banned and listed conditions to be met before the suspension is lifted.
