The 'Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) plans to contact voters through bulk Short Message/Messaging Service (SMS) to come collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC).'

This is according to Adenike Oriowo, INEC’s Public Affairs Officer for Lagos State.

Oriowo who was speaking on Nigeria Info's Hard Facts, revealed that a "few weeks ago," INEC "harvested the VIN numbers of the old cards they have to enable them trace their numbers on the database for bulk SMS to be sent to them."

She noted further that in Lagos state, a total of 473892 PVC's of those who applied for transfer or fresh registration have been received.

According to her, the figures from the election body as at the 15th of December 2022 showed that out of the 473892 PVC's received, only 56101 have so far been collected.
