Mutiu Adepoju has backed the Super Eagles to perform well against Cape Verde.

As Nigeria prepares to take on Cape Verde in the second of their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier, former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has backed the team to perform well.

Gernot Rohr's men travel to the Estadio Nacional de Capo Verde without the services of some key players who prosecuted a 2-0 win over Liberia including William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Wilfried Ndidi, Ogenekharo Etebo, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho, who bagged a brace against the Liberians.

Speaking on Game On, the former Shooting Stars, Julius Berger and Real Madrid B player stated that the "players (available) are good enough."

Adepoju - who played 48times for the Super Eagles scoring six goals, and was also part of the team to both the 1992 and title-winning 1994 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament - also dispelled suggestions that having both the AFCON and World Cup played same year, as will be the case in 2022, will physically affect players' performance.

Citing the scenario in 1994, the France 1998 goalscorer said "there should be no problem."
