After years of clamouring, Nigerians may be about to see one of their many wishes come to pass, thanks to Mr. Sergius Ogun, a lawyer and politician.

A bill seeking to prescribe a jail term of seven years and/or a fine of N500m for officials who spend public funds on foreign medical trips narrowly passed second reading at the House of Representatives last Wednesday.

The bill, sponsored by the House of Reps member (Edo, PDP) is titled; ‘A Bill for an Act to amend the National Health Act, 2014; and for related matters’.

However, Nigerians are unconvinced as to the feasibility of the proposed legislation.

Reacting to the news on the Sunny Side show with Joyce Onyemuwa, callers aired their reservations.

"There is simply no utility to the bill," said one caller

He added, "why are we treating the symptoms when we are the cause of the sickness?"

So, what next?
