Okada Ban: Lagosians React as Enforcement Commences

Lagos State's ban on okadas from June 1 has been met with mixed reactions.

Most Lagosians who spoke with Sheriff Quadry on Morning Crossfire expressed their support for the government's proclamation.

One of them, Joy, urged the government not to heed calls to reverse the ban. She said people who are complaining can trek.

Another caller who supported the ban cited Kaduna and Kano Kano States as places where okadas had been successfully banned.

He also advised that Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to get okadas that can take residents to inner roads.

An anonymous caller disagreed.

He contended that it was unfair to compare a commercial hub like Lagos with Kaduna, Edo or Kano State.

He was also concerned about the direct and indirect impact the ban will have on commerce in Lagos State.
