The state and effectiveness of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), formerly known as Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) has been called to question once again.

The House of Representatives recently ordered an immediate investigation over the usage of over N165bn budgeted to the NCoS within the last two years.

According to the House, this move is necessary because the increase in budgetary allocation to the NCoS is certainly not evident right now.

Speaking to Joyce Onyemuwa on the Sunny Side, callers aired their views on what they thought of the move and the NCoS in general.

Narrating his ordeal, one caller says the "NCoS is a fallacy."

He said, "I was locked up in December after someone came to my apartment to steal, if you see what is going on there, you will not believe what is going on in this country."

For another caller, the "NCoS is a depot for drugs."
