African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has no plans of removing fuel subsidy if elected president of the country.

This was revealed by the human rights activist and presidential candidate while in conversation with Ireti Bakare-Yusuf on Danfo Conversations.

Speaking on his plans ahead the 2023 general elections, the Revolution Now convener slammed the "crooks" who benefit from subsidy payments by the government.

"The only thing that Nigerians get from the Nigerian crude is that little subsidy," he said.

"What I will remove is the subsidy that the crooks in our system get, those that are importing fake fuel.

"The subsidy that costs a lot of money is the subsidy of the elites."

When quizzed further on the subject in the wake of Kenya's decision to remove subsidy on its fuel and its cost implication for the government, Sowore noted there was a "gimmick" in play.

"Do you know that kerosine and diesel is not subsidized; so why are we not benefitting from it?" He retorted.
