On Wednesday, the Tekes asked their listeners on the family talk segment of What's Up Lagos if today’s parents are overwhelmed with raising their children.

The taped sexual acts of minors in Dubai and the online reaction to it was the trigger for the question, and there was no shortage of responses.

A lot of callers agreed that parents are overwhelmed.

Parenting children should be done in an “analog manner” again, according to a caller.

In addition to calling for the banning of pornography on the internet, he suggested that children under the age of 18 should not be given smartphones.

Another caller said parents are selfish, not financially, but in paying attention to their children and monitoring/ mentoring them.

A third caller advised parents to teach their children boundaries and delayed gratification.

In her words, “It takes sacrifice to raise a child.”
