Birth control refers to any method, medicine or device used to prevent pregnancy.

It is a term that is often associated with women and very rarely with men but as an Obstetrician & Gynecologist at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Dr. Joseph Okoeguale pointed out “there are common drugs that can be given to men” to use as contraceptives.

Speaking on the Sunny Side with Joyce, the medical practitioner said one reason why these drugs are not popular among men is because a number of them have been known to cause erectile dysfunction. He also noted that men are generally reluctant when other birth control methods are suggested and relayed an incident where a patient left the operating table just before a vasectomy.
