Nigerians who registered for the Permanent Voter Card in 2023 have been unable to collect their cards because INEC is printing all cards before distribution.
The Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner for INEC, Olusegun Agbaje, revealed this on Morning Crossfire with Wemimo Adewuni.
Agbaje said about 7 million PVCs have been printed, but INEC has been instructed to not distribute them yet so that people whose cards are not ready don't raise false alarms.
He added that INEC should be contacting people mid-November to collect their PVCs.
The Lagos REC also pointed out that many cards registered before 2022 are ready for collection but are yet to be picked up.
“We have received 6,630,661. 5,661,294 have been picked. This means as I speak to you, about 969,367 are still in our custody in the 20 local Government Areas in Lagos State."
He urged the owners of the unclaimed PVCs to pick them up before the deadline in 2023.
