The person killed in an early morning petrol tanker fire in Lagos has been identified as 15-year-old Oluwatobi Lawal.

He was killed after the tanker exploded Friday at Ajegunle bus stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

Eyewitnesses say the 45,000-litre tanker lost control and spilled its content on the road at 2 am.

The South West coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye added that the fire was ignited after some persons began scooping the petrol.

42 makeshift shops and some vehicles around the area were burnt by the fire that has been now been put out.
