President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has dismissed claims that the Senate proposed new aircraft for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Jackson Udom, his Special Assistant on Print Media, Akpabio provided the explanation while paying Sen. Tahir Monguno respects on the passing of his father.
The Senate President stated that the article claiming he made the comment of buying a new plane was untrue.
“I want to dispel the rumour that you are hearing that the Senate President said he will buy a new plane for the President and his Vice, irrespective of the fact that Nigerians are hungry or whatever.”
“I never said that. I was actually in Zanzibar, Tanzania,” he said.
Akpabio stated that propagandists and fifth columnists are the sources of the report.
He went on to say that the Senate was concentrated on passing laws that would help President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda come to pass.
