The Lagos government has denied reports that the rumored monthly environmental sanitation will be reintroduced in July.

The Lagos State Ministry of Environment's director of public affairs, Kunle Adeshina, issued a statement on Wednesday advising people to disregard the contents of "a fake" advisory that has been circulating on social media.

Adeshina quoted Tokunbo Wahab, the environment commissioner as saying that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu did not make any pronouncement on the monthly sanitation during his remarks on Sunday.

The reports, according to the Lagos commissioner, are the product of miscreants who are eager to mislead locals.

Wahab clarified that Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that Lagos State will begin a weekly community-based sensitization and awareness exercise that will involve all residents.
