A governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has denied the state government’s accusation that he hired cultists to disrupt the screening of national and state assembly aspirants of the PDP in Port Harcourt.

Hon. Doctor Dagogo, currently a member of the House of Representatives, released a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Lawal.

In it, he said he was not at the PDP secretariat where the screening took place on Wednesday.

He also said the arrest warrant placed on him by Governor Nyesom Wike violates the provisions of Sections 14 and 33 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

He has therefore asked the Inspector-General of Police to direct the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State not to obey the governor.

The statement noted that Hon. Dagogo was willing to honour an invitation by the police.

It also accused Governor Wike of attempting to stop the gubernatorial screening of Hon. Dagogo which is scheduled for Thursday.
