Some FCT residents are counting losses following last Thursday's violent rainstorm that destroyed buildings and properties in parts of the territory.

No life was lost from the information I gathered when I visited the affected areas, but victims said they are still in shock over the devastating experience.

Some at the city center described how the rainstorm hauled trees, containers, roofs, and electricity poles at their vehicles.

It also caused minor accidents along the Abuja-Nyanya and Kubwa highways, leading to heavy traffic.

Similar situations were experienced in high-density residential areas in the suburbs like Kubwa, Nyanya, and Maraba, particularly where the mast of a newly built radio station was up-rooted and fell on homes.

The owner of the radio station, I learned, compensated one of the victims who almost lost his life in the accident with N2 million.
