A Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a policeman, ASP Drambi Vandi, who allegedly shot and killed a lawyer, Bolanle Raheem, in Lagos on Christmas Day.
The Chief Magistrate, C.A. Adedayo, ordered that the suspect be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending the advice of the state Director of Public Prosecutions( DPP).
She held that the remand order was for the first 30 days pending a police investigation into the case.
She ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for advice.
Adedayo adjourned the case until 30 January for the review of the remand order and the DPP’s advice.
The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), is the prosecutor in the case.
Bolanle Raheem was with her family in her car, coming back from a church service, when she was shot at a police checkpoint in the Ajah area of Lagos.
