The police have sealed off the Nasarawa State House of Assembly following the election of two speakers for the 7th Assembly.

The members-elect held two parallel proceedings on Tuesday, leading to the election of the different speakers for the Assembly.

The incumbent speaker, Ibrahim Abdullahi, and the member representing Kokona East constituency, Daniel Ogazi, were elected at the different proceedings.

Hon. Abdullahi was elected by 11 of the 24 members-elect at a sitting that took place at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while Ogazi was elected by the remaining 13 members at the state assembly.

Both claim their elections were valid.

The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, Maiyaki Mohammed-Baba, said the closure of the Assembly was taken to prevent the breakdown of law and order.
