Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, says his Benue state counterpart, Samuel Ortom will not appear before the National Disciplinary Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The party wants Gov. Wike to answer to allegations of anti-party activities.

At a media briefing at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Gov. Wike said the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) does not have the power to refer Gov. Ortom to a disciplinary committee.

He also said the NWC cannot suspend Ekiti State former governor, Ayodele Fayose, and other senior members of the PDP.

The PDP NWC had suspended Fayose; former President of the Senate, Pius Anyim; Prof. Dennis Ityavyar; and Aslam Aliyu.

The NWC had also referred Gov. Ortom to the PDP’s National Disciplinary Committee over allegations of anti-party activities.

Gov. Wike thinks the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, is the person who should be suspended for refusing to obey the PDP’s constitution on the zoning of political positions in the party.
