The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has 333,179 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Osun State ready for collection.
This is as the state prepares to elect a new governor on 16 July.
The INEC Head of Department for Election and Party Monitoring, Shehu Muhammad explained on Wednesday that the cards were printed after the completion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in March 2022.
He spoke at a workshop organised for journalists and information officers by the Osun State Government and a media consultant.
“The PVCs are for new registrants and reissued PVCs for those that corrected information on their cards, replaced defaced and lost cards, and those transferring their voting rights to Osun.” Alhaji Muhammad said.
He also disclosed that INEC was 95 percent ready for the governorship election.
“The remaining five percent are what we refer to as sensitive materials, which by INEC practice, will not arrive until about 48 hours to the commencement of the election,” he said.
