The National President of the Independent Marketers Association of Nigeria, Abubakar Garima, has disclosed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited is supplying petrol to oil marketers in Lagos at N995 per liter, rather than the previously indicated N1,010.

Speaking on Nigeria Info's Morning Crossfire on Tuesday, Garima indicated that there was also a reduction of N5 in other states.

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, IPMAN national president, Abubakar Garima disclosed that the NNPCL requested that oil marketers purchase petroleum products from its depot in Lagos for N1,010 per liter.

He stated that the price peg was much more than what the oil company paid to purchase products from the Dangote Refinery, which resulted in controversy between the two parties.

According to him, the Department of State Security (DSS) intervened, and the marketers have already begun completing the amount of money the NNPC has sought.

“They made a small reduction in the price, which we accepted, we are now completing the remaining balance so that we can start loading this product," he said.

"Once our marketers complete their remaining balance, they will start loading,” he added.

Garima said IPMAN members will only load the outstanding 'tickets' they (marketers) have with the NNPC till it’s exhausted.

"We have already started discussing with the Dangote Refinery so that we can see how we can start loading our product through him," he told Nigeria Info.

He disclosed that petrol loading may commence on Tuesday (today), after which they will calculate the transportation costs to their filling stations, subsequently adding the margin to arrive at the selling prices.
