The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested no fewer than 18,940 people for drug-related offenses in the last two years.
The NDLEA chairman, Mohammed Buba Marwa, made this known on Tuesday in Yola while receiving an award of excellence in recognition of his outstanding service to the nation.
He said the agency secured 3,324 convictions, seized 5.4 kg of control drugs and narcotics, and rehabilitated 3,326 drug abusers.
He also said the NDLEA recently acquired drug testing kits and advocated drug tests for intending couples.
“Drug tests would determine the innocence or otherwise of couples and it will save marital relationships from collapse due to the abuse of drugs,” he said.
