Lagos Uncovers 86 "Rooms" Under Ikoyi Bridge

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, says the state has uncovered apartments under the Dolphin estate bridge where tenants reportedly pay N250,000 in annual rent.

In a statement shared on his official Twitter account, Wahab revealed that an enforcement team from the Lagos Ministry of Environment uncovered 86 rooms partitioned into 10x10 and 12x10 dimensions, along with a container, during their operation.

"These illegal structures, comprising a total of 86 rooms partitioned into 10x10 and 12x10 dimensions, as well as a container utilized for various illicit activities, were found underneath the Dolphin Estate bridge," stated the commissioner.

He further added that they have all been dismantled by the enforcement team of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources."

Additionally, Kunle Rotimi-Akodu, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, affirmed the removal of illegal settlers from beneath the bridge towards Dolphin Estate in Ikoyi.

The enforcement actions underscore the commitment of the Lagos State government to uphold urban planning regulations and ensure the safety and integrity of public infrastructure.
