The Lagos State Government (LASG)  says it will distribute 200,000 bins to residents as it considers re-introducing the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, canceled in 2016.

At a sensitization session at Campos Stadium in Lagos Island on Sunday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the bins would aid in statewide proper trash disposal.

”We have made provision for the distribution of 200,000 refuse dumps to encourage proper disposal,” he said.

It’s also for us to use this as an enlightenment and awareness campaign, given what we have seen, which is rather appalling and totally unacceptable.

“It is unacceptable the  level of environmental nuisance people have constituted, the level of refuse, uncleanliness.,the untidiness we noticed while driving round this morning.”

The governor declared that he was using the opportunity to advocate for a better understanding of and care for the environment.
