The Labour Party has appointed the actress, Hilda Dokubo, as its acting chairman in River State, following the dissolution of the caretaker committee led by Dienye Pepple.
The party’s national chairman, Julius Abure, disclosed this in a statement he signed on Thursday.
The Pepple committee was dissolved on Tuesday for “gross anti-party activities” and alleged “corruption in the management of the party’s funds.”
Pepple had announced that the Labour Party’s adoption of the ruling PDP’s Siminialayi Fubara as its preferred candidate for the governorship election.
He also alleged that the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, Beatrice Itubo, had stepped down for the APC governorship candidate, Tonye Cole.
Abure dismissed the endorsement and claim before dissolving the Pepple committee.
