The Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has condemned the attack on journalists on the first day of the End Bad Governance protest in Kano.

A branded car with two reporters and a driver from Wazobia FM, Cool FM, and Arewa Radio was attacked near the Kano State Government House on Thursday.

Another bus carrying 11 journalists from other media houses, including Channels Television, was also attacked along Sokoto Road in Kano.

Hoodlums smashed the bus's windows, injuring some of the passengers.

The NUJ Kano Council described the attacks as "unlawful," emphasizing that while citizens have the right to stage peaceful protests, they must not intimidate or abuse others.

The union's chairman, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, and secretary, Comrade Abba Murtala, called on authorities to maintain law and order in the state and ensure the safety of journalists performing their duties.

The attacks on journalists have raised concerns about press freedom and the safety of media professionals covering public events in Nigeria.
