The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has opened the runway it shut after an airplane mishap at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.
FAAN's Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, released a statement released a statement on Tuesday announcing the reopening.
According to her, the incident involved a Dana Air aircraft that overshot the runway during its landing sequence at the airport, leading to the closure on Tuesday morning.
She said FAAN’s emergency response team moved quickly to remove the aircraft from the area. Nobody was harmed.
“A concerted effort was made for the thorough and efficient cleaning of the area to facilitate the swift resumption of operations on Runway 18L/36R,” she wrote in the statement.
Operations resumed on the runway after a comprehensive evaluation of its surface by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and FAAN.
