An Area Court in Jos has sentenced a barber, Moses Tobi, to six months in prison for stealing a canopy.
A panel of two magistrates sentenced Tobi on Monday after he pleaded guilty to theft.
But he was given an option of a N10,000 fine.
The Prosecution Counsel told the court that the case was reported on 14 May, after the convict stole the canopy valued at N30, 000 from the complainant’s fish stand.

The court also sentenced a 24-year-old man, Yakubu Musa, to 12 months imprisonment for trespass and breaking shop locks in Jos.
The presiding judges, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnanan handed down the sentence after the convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge and begged for leniency.
They, however, gave him an option of a N20,000 fine.
Earlier, the police prosecutor said the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station, Jos on 14 February.
