Agba Scores as NK Olimpija Ljubljana Thrash ND Primorje 5-0 to Keep Title Hopes Alive

Slovenian champions NK Olimpija Ljubljana claimed an emphatic 5-0 victory over ND Primorje at the Stožice Stadium on Monday to keep their title hopes alive.

Olimpija were given the perfect start when Alex Matthias Tamm gave them the lead inside seven minutes after a poor defending by the Primorje defenders.

But 15 minutes before halftime, Primorje’s Kayode Rafiu was shown a straight red card for a poor tackle.

Olimpija right back, Jorge Silva extends the lead in the 41 minutes after a beautiful display to ease the pressure.

However, things got worse for Primorje when Edvin Suljanović was sent off after collecting his second yellow card of the game before Raul Florucz and Álex Blanco both scored in the 65 and 70 minutes.

In the 90th minute, Olimpija rounded off the rout when Peter Agba curled home a long-range stunner in stoppage time to keep their title hopes alive.

Speaking recently, the Kano-born midfielder expressed his desire to win the league in his debut season.

“We currently top the league with six points. If we continue like this, with the current squad, I am confident of winning the league at the end of the season”.

The defeat leaves Primorje in sixth place, 18 points behind Olimpija who tops second place Maribor with 6 points after 19 matches.
