Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation of Chairman, members of CBN Monetary Policy Committee

Senate has received the request of President Bola Tinubu for  the confirmation  of the appointment of a  Chairman and Members for the  Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).

Tinubu's request was conveyed in a letter addressed to President of Senate, Godswill Akpiabio and read at plenary on Wednesday in Abuja.

In the letter, the President listed CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso as Chairman and eleven others as members.

According to the letter, the members include, CBN Deputy Governors Muhammad Abdullahi, Bala Bello, Emem Usoro and Philip Ikeazor, as well as 

Muritala Sabo, who is a Director in the apex Bank.

Others are the Director General, Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), Lamido Yuguda, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Jafia Shehu, Aloysius Uche, Agu Paulin, Mustapha Akinwumi and Bamidele Amon.

Akpabio thereafter  referred to the request to Committees  on  Finance, Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions for further legislative inputs and report back to plenary in one week.
