There is heavy security around the main office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Yenagoa as Bayelsans await the conclusion of the collation of Saturday's  gubernatorial election.

Major entry and exit points to the office on Sani Abacha Road were cordoned off Monday morning by a combined team of police, Army, Naval and Civil Defence officers.

Two Armoured Personnel Carriers were stationed at the office.

Results from six local government areas were announced over the weekend, with the ones from Brass and Southern Ijaw Local Government Areas scheduled for noon on Monday when collation is expected to resume.

A group of protesters who came early on Sunday to demonstrate against voter suppression in Wards 11, 12 and 13 of Nembe Constituency III spent the night at the military checkpoint leading directly to the INEC office.
