The Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications & Strategy, Dele Alake says President Bola Tinubu "has not approved any salary increase, and no such proposal has been brought before him for consideration."
In a statement on Thursday, Alake noted that "it is within the constitutional remit of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to propose and fix salaries and allowances for political office holders and Judicial Officers."
He however clarified that "such can not come into effect until it has equally been considered and approved by the President."
The presidential spokesman also mentioned that the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission dismissed the story he described as fake
Recall that on Wednesday, there were reports of a 114% increase in the salary of the President, Vice President, elected Federal and State political office holders and judicial officers.
