The National Assembly has passed the supplementary budget of N2 trillion for the third reading.
The upper legislative chamber passed the supplementary appropriation bill following the adoption of the report of the harmonised sittings of both chambers on the bill as submitted by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola.
Recall that after the Federal Executive Council approval on MondayPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration submitted an NN2,176,791,286,033 budget to the National Assembly for approval.
Tinubu had said the supplementary bill was necessary for additional palliative measures including wage awards.
The bill speedily scaled readings in both upper and lower chambers as lawmakers said there is a need for the country to take advantage of the coming dry season to implement some projects like road construction, hence the need for the budget to pass in earnest.
