The trial of BRT driver, Andrew Nice who is accused of raping and killing a 22-year-old lady, continued Tuesday at the Lagos State High Court at Tafawa Balewa Square.

A second witness, Kayode Aluko, the Fleet operations manager of the Lagos Bus Service Limited, testified.

Mr. Aluko told the court that Mr. Nice was on duty at the times and dates that Mary-Jane Obesuru, Victoria Anoke, and Oluwabamise (Bamise) Ayonwola were allegedly assaulted and Bamise murdered.

He said the accused gave an excuse of going for lunch and never returned to work on 28 February when he was summoned.

Mr. Aluko also said the company spearheaded the manhunt for Mr. Nice after Bamise’s family alerted them that she had gone missing after boarding one of their buses.

Justice Sherifat Shonike adjourned the matter for cross-examination and further trial to 1, 7, and 9 June.

Meanwhile, the family of the late Oluwabamise (Bamise) Ayonwola continued their protest outside the court.

They requested that the Lagos State government grants them FIAT, which is an approval for their lawyer to prosecute Andrew Nice.

Bamise Protest Court

The family had similarly protested on Monday at the start of the trial which is being prosecuted by the Lagos State government.

The four-count charge against Mr. Nice was amended on Monday to accommodate the fifth charge, bordering on the alleged rape of another woman, Victoria Anoke, by the accused.
