The governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, says thieves stole court records about corruption allegations against his predecessor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, his relatives, and associates.

The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, announced this in a statement on Wednesday.

Former Governor Ganduje is facing multiple corruption charges before the State High Court.

On Wednesday, Governor Yusuf inspected the Kano State High Court, which was looted and vandalized during the recent nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

“It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission to subvert the corruption charges against the acting National Chairman of the APC and former governor of the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides,” Yusuf was quoted to have said.

According to the statement, hoodlums destroyed high court units, including the Chief Judge's office, causing over N1 billion in losses through theft, destruction, and burning of essential materials.

Governor Yusuf described the incident as a “masterminded and stage-managed mission” aimed at disrupting the ongoing corruption cases against Ganduje.

He urged young people in the state to stop being used for violence, assuring them of the government's support.

He ordered that the courthouse be immediately rehabilitated and properly secured.
