The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has announced an increase in the tariff payable by customers on Band A feeders.

In a notice shared Wednesday on its social media handles, the company said the premium customers will now pay N209.5/kWh instead of N206.80/kWh.

It said the new tariff became effective on July 1. PHED also said in the notice that the guaranteed availability of a minimum of 20 hrs per day still stands.

It said the tariff in Bands B, C, D, and E remains unchanged. The Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company released a similar notice. The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc also announced the same upward review of the electricity tariff for Band A customers.

This comes as electricity consumers, including manufacturers and public and private institutions, continue complaining about the high monthly electricity bills. As you may know, Band A customers supposedly receive 20 to 24 hours of electricity supply daily.

Subscribers under Band B enjoy 16 to 20 hours of power supply, while those in Band C receive 12 to 16 hours daily.

Band D subscribers benefit from eight to 12 hours of power supply each day, and Band E subscribers only receive four to eight hours of electricity supply daily.

There have, however, been complaints from some customers on the bands that they do not receive the expected power.
