The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, recently discussed the leadership styles of President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, based on his personal experience working with both men.

Fashola in an interview with Channels TV said the two possess unique leadership qualities.

He likened Tinubu's leadership style to that of a football team manager who delegates duties to team members and provides informed guidance, while remaining actively involved until success is achieved.

“I was speaking to someone and I said, imagine there are two football coaches.

“Asiwaju would be that kind of coach playing the game with them (in the dugout). Those are the two differences you’ll see," he said.

The Lagos State former governor further stated that Tinubu is a nocturnal leader who inspects and ensures that those he delegates duties to deliver as promised.

In contrast, Fashola likened Buhari's leadership style to that of a football coach who prepares the team and then sits on the sideline to watch them play, trusting them to do well without much intervention.

“Buhari is the type of president of a ‘football coach’ that will prepare his team and then go and sit in the coach’s dugout and watch them play for 90 minutes.

"He trusts them to do well and believes there’s nothing he can do.

“One prepares, and one delegates completely.

"One delegates and stays with you, and each one has his strength,” he explained further.
