The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest the Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, for assaulting a police officer in uniform.
A statement by the CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, says the IGP has also instructed for a thorough and swift investigation into the underlying cause(s) of the assault and the subsequent prosecution of the offender.
It added that acts of disrespect or disdain for symbols of authority will not be condoned, and perpetrators of such heinous crimes will be brought to justice.
Afrobeat artiste, Seun Kuti, has been captured in a viral video assaulting a police operative on duty.
Explaining his action via Instagram on Saturday, Kuti said the officer attempted to kill him and his family members.
