Trabzonspor’s Paul Onuachu will replace Sadiq Umar in the Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad.
26-year-old Umar picked up a knee injury in Nigeria’s 2-0 friendly defeat to the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday.
However, in a Friday statement posted on X by the official Super Eagles account, it was announced that Paul Onuachu will be his replacement.
This development comes after another striker Victor Boniface was earlier ruled out of the competition which is scheduled to start tomorrow, January 13 in Ivory Coast.
Onuachu, in 15 games for Trabzonspor this season, has scored nine goals and provided three assists.
